Don't get even. Get everything...

Even before her bad marriage ended, Lauren MacDonald lost everything—her job, her friends, her self-esteem, and her sexual appetite. Now that she’s finally free, she’s struggling to regain control of a life her ex did his best to destroy.

The plan: sex with Justin Scott, her ex’s business partner. The man her husband invited into their marital bed, forcing her to realize it was time to get out. Justin was the star of the fantasies that helped her endure her marriage, so she can’t deny she wanted him—but not like that. She wants him like this—alone. In her bed. For exactly three nights.

Justin screwed up with Lauren, and in the past she’s made no secret of the fact she loathes him. So when she walks into his office flashing miles of long, lean legs, his brain cells misfire. Three nights of meaningless sex? He’s all over it. Not only does he have the chance to unleash his desire for her, it’s the opening he’s been waiting for—to convince her to give him more.

Review:

I saw a review for this e-book on another blog that I follow and it sounded VERY interesting. I checked to see if it was available for Barnes and Noble Nook owners and low and behold it was! So naturally, I downloaded it and devoured it!

The premise of the book is about a woman who just got out of a TERRIBLE marriage and is looking to gain a little bit of control back in a certain part of her life....The Bedroom. So Lauren makes a proposition to Justin.....3 nights of mind-blowing, no-kissing-on-the-lips, business like sex. Which he isn't comfortable with but agrees to because he has a "thing" for Lauren. Actually, they both have a "thing" for each other if I'm being honest here.

Anyway, this is one of the shorter e-books I've read but I really enjoyed it. The plot and premise were really good in my opinion. The hero....A HOT SEX GOD! The heroine....a little beat down but comes out on top (in more ways than one) by the end of this book. The sex scenes....SCORCHING HOT!

Review ~ Extreme Exposure

Pub. Date: August 2005
Publisher: Penguin Group (USA) Incorporated
Format: E-Book, also available in paperback
Rating:
Smuttiness:
Description:
Sparks fly when a hardboiled reporter meets a handsome senator. But a political scandal-and attempts on her life-could drive them apart. Or maybe adversity could draw them into a bond even more intense than their steamy sexual embraces.
Review:
OMG! This is a "new to me" author and in the description it says that sparks fly.....soooooo inaccurate......More along the lines of BIG flames from flame throwers! Kara is a single mom as well as an investigative reporter who is tipped about a story that involves MANY environmental crimes as well as crime crimes. Along the way she meets UBER SEXY Senator Reece Sheridan, who in his past career was a teacher.
The BIG flames from the flame throwers start flying which leads to MANY moments of UBER HOT sex. Then Kara finds out that Reece may possibly be involved in this scandal, which leads to a few tense moments, which includes attempts on BOTH Kara and Reece's lives. But in the end cool heads prevail and all the bad guys lose and all the good guys win.
I definately will be reading more of the books by this author. The characters are well written and very real. The author herself is a former investigative reporter! The story line AWESOME! Once I started this book I really had a VERY hard time putting it down and the worst part of the book was when it actually came to an end!

ANCIENT WHISPERS

Review:

NOTE: This book does contain EXPLICIT content, so it should only be read by adults!

A little back story first.....I was invited to join this tour a little while ago. In all honesty I remembered signing up for a tour but I couldn't remember what book it was for (life is getting crazy around here again!), turns out it was this one. Then the book itself was accidentally delivered to my neighbors while they were on vacation and I got it the next week when they came home from vacation....so I apologize if this screws up the tour schedule at all.

When I started this book I was a little bit confused as to why the prolouge started in 1755 and then the first chapter was "present day." But as I read further it all started to make perfect sense. Once all the pieces fell into place, I had a VERY hard time putting this book down! It's got a little bit of everything in there too, romance, action, uber sexy male lead, and uber sexy supporting male characters just to name a few things!

Personally, I think it's a steamy little love story of uber sexy sorcerers who have sold their soul to eventually be reunited with a long lost loved one. A few love spells are cast which leads to UBER HOT SEX (in my opinion anyway). After the first couple of pages (the confused pages) I pretty much fell in lust with the story....so much so that I did not want it to end! So much so that I went and purchased it in e-book format on my Barnes and Noble Nook so I can read it again and again and again.

I LOVED all the characters in this book. They are all very interesting and all have shall we say "complicated" pasts. Which is really going to make the rest of this series (yup there will be MORE uber sexy sorcerers and UBER HOT SEX) VERY, VERY interesting. The main character Gabe, well how can you NOT love a guy who's been in love with and devoted to the same woman for centuries, only knowing that EVENTUALLY you will get to see her again?! Call me weird, but I think that's not only romantic but a little bit hot too!

Sinner Takes All by Tera Patrick review **May contain spoilers

Sinner Takes All
Tera Patrick
336 pages

Rating:

Challenges:

100+ Challenge, 144 Books in 2010, Non-Fiction Five Challenge
Synopsis:
How does a girl go from being a shy, awkward bookworm to the biggest porn star in the world? In Sinner Takes All, Tera Patrick reveals all, including: her career as an international model; losing her virginity at fourteen to a thirtysomething photographer; learning oral sex techniques backstage at a Guns N' Roses concert; having an orgy with a team of firefighters; her unglamorous job in a nursing home; her first forays into the adult movie business; and how, with her husband's help, she launched her own multimillion-dollar empire.
Along the way, she dishes on the emotional side of being Tera Patrick, writing candidly about her battles with depression and anxiety. She also discusses finding true love and building a healthy marriage, achievements that many consider to be impossible in the world of porn. Featuring hundreds of photos, plus diary pages and scintillating sidebars, Sinner Takes All takes the tell-all to raunchy new heights.
Review:
As you can see by past reviews I have a pretty ecclectic taste in reading material. I came across this book several months ago and it caught my interest. Come on the cover alone is pretty eye catching. Honestly, the sex industry is a rather interesting subject matter to read about. NOTE: If you are going to read this book there are some photographs that are of a "adult" nature.
Tera Patrick is a pretty inspirational woman. You may or may not agree. But that is my opinion of Tera after reading her memoir. She had a very rough start in life. Her parents were pretty much absent a lot. Her father has spent most of his life an "herbal American" (both legal and illegal) and her mother is a Thai woman with a violent temper. Tera (who's real name is actually Linda) was abused by her mother. She even said in the book that writing it was a form of "therapy" for her on some issues.
Tera started off a model and ended up in Japan for a while. Where she became addicted to drugs and was first introduced to sex. But after her modeling career tanked she came back to the states and got all the drugs cleaned out of her system she lead a "normal" life for a while. But her sex life was pretty crazy and stayed "crazy" for a long time.
Tera says that the thing that really turned her on to the porn industry was that you didn't have to be a size 0 and 110 pounds. She took the porn world by storm. She's had her ups and downs, but she's still kicking. For that she thanks Evan (her now ex-husband), who also helped her lauch her own empire.
So after a rough start in life Tera is, in my opinion, an inspiration. She came from the lowest lows (drug addiction, abuse, etc.) to the highest highs (her own multi-million dollar empire) all with a little elbow grease. What I learned from this book is that if you put forth the effort there is no dream that is unattainable.

Devil May Cry (Dark Hunter series) review

Devil May Cry
Sherrilyn Kenyon
384 pages
Rating: 4/5

Source: purchased with my own money
Challenges: 100+ Challenge, 144 books in 2010, 2010 Romance Challenge, Romance Reading Challenge

Synopsis: (from Barnes and Noble)

Sin, a Sumerian fertility god turned Vegas casino owner, and Kat, the zealous servant of bossy Greek goddess Artemis, knock boots and kick butt in Kenyon's juicy 11th Dark-Hunter paranormal love-fest (after 2006's Dark Side of the Moon). Sin's been on the warpath for thousands of years, since Artemis stole his godhood. Sin's also upset about the disappearance of his twin brother, Zakar, and the imminent invasion of the vampiric Sumerian gallu, who plan to liberate the Dimme superdemons and destroy all humanity. Kat agrees to kill Sin before he kills Artemis, but instead the two fall in madcap love while trying to prevent Armageddon. It's just another day's work for the immortals, who act a lot like ordinary quarrelsome people with way cool superpowers. Though readers may need a scorecard to keep up with the cast, this series puts a contemporary spin on classical mythology that an increasing number of fans have found irresistible.
Review: This is the second book I've read in Kenyon's Dark Hunter series and I think I have a Dark Hunter addiction! Sin's a real bad ass who's been doing things pretty much on his own since Artemis took his godhood from him, trusting almost no one and looking to extract revenge on Artemis. Then Artemis catches him doing "something bad" and calls upon Katra to go and kill Sin only to find out that the "something bad" Artemis saw him doing was actually something good. See the Sumerian gallu are days away from escaping there prision and when they do escape they plan to liberate the Dimme and that pretty much means the end of humanity unless Sin and a small army can stop them.
Oh and then there's Artemis' BIG secret that she kept from Acheron! Not going to give that one away though. Gonna have to read the book to find out what that is.
I really like how Kenyon wrote this story. Big ole bad ass Sin getting verbally slapped around by little ole Kat....Good times. The fight scenes were GREAT in my opinion too. All the characters, even the not SO good ones, were written in a way that made them all at least a little bit likeable. Oh and then there is the sex....those scenes were written really great too! Just saying.
What I was really thinking:
The Beginning: Sin's a bad bad guy! Get him Kat!
The Middle: Ya gotta save HUMANITY Sin! OMG THAT is one big ole secret to keep from Acheron! NOT smart Artie!
The End: Poor Artie! Sin and Kat are going to drive you CRAZY!

Dark Side of the Moon Review

Dark Side of the Moon (Dark Hunter novel #11)
Sherrilyn Kenyon

Synopsis - 9/10
Plot - 7/10
Characters - 9/10
Overall Story - 8/10
Conclusion - 7/10

Overall Score - 40/50

*Optional*Smuttiness - 8/10

Synopsis: Susan Michaels was the hottest reporter on the Beltway Beat until she walked into a setup that ruined her reputation. Now she’s working for a small Seattle paper, penning stories about killer moths and alien babies, convinced that her life couldn’t get any worse…
That was before an idea for a breaking news piece brought her to a local animal shelter where she ends up listening to her source rant about vampires and gets coerced into adopting a cat despite her allergies. But when her new pet suddenly reveals himself to be a gorgeous—and lethal—shapeshifter, Susan realizes that there’s far more at stake than a career-saving by-line.
Born into a world of predators, Were-Hunter Ravyn Kontis was betrayed by those he loved best. Soulless, pitiless, he has spent three hundred years battling the Daimons who seek to subjugate humankind. Against all odds, Susan evokes in Ravyn feelings of tenderness. Desire. Love. And with the ultimate battle about to begin, this one very human woman holds the power to shatter both their worlds...

Review: This is the first book that I've ever read by this author. I liked it but I didn't really LOVE it. Ravyn and Susan are both characters that are dealing with some extra "baggage" shall we say. Susan is this reporter who always get's her story (which has cost her dearly) but at the same time has a pretty quirky sense of humor (which you see a lot in the book) and Ravyn he's pretty much a no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn't particularly care to be around humans at all because they have cost him dearly. Well now that the Daimons (with the help of some humans) are trying to kill both Susan AND Ravyn they are kind of stuck with one another. The more time they spend together the more that we the readers learn about these two character's pasts...Not a pretty picture. There is even a little twist thrown in for good measure too. If you like a little Death, Destruction and Mayhem with some smutt thrown in this is a good book to check out.

Candy Girl Review

Candy Girl A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper

Diablo Cody

Synopsis - 5/10
Plot - 8/10
Characters - 10/10
Overall Story - 10/10
Conclusion - 8/10

Overall Score - 41/50

*Optional*Smuttiness - 10/10

Review: Overall, I was really happy with the book. It's the story of a "normal" 20-something woman who get's this crazy idea that she should try her hand at being a stripper in addition to her day job as a typist for an advertising company in Minneapolis. The author doesn't mince any words and even uses some "colorful" language (if your not into f-bombs and "interesting" names for male parts DON'T read this book) for her year of being an "entertainer". You learn a lot about all the different clubs that she's worked at and a little bit about the other "entertainers" that she's come across.

I giggled, I cringed and I had a few WTF?! moments but overall the writing style and overall story are easy to follow. The only part that I was a little bit skeptical about was how cool her now husband was about the whole idea, but I guess that's a "too each there own" kind of thing.

Good Girl Gone Bad - Review

Good Girl Gone Bad
Karin Tabke
384 pages

Synopsis - 10/10
Plot - 8/10
Characters - 10/10
Overall Story - 9/10
Conclusion - 9/10

* Overall - 46/50

** Smuttiness - 10/10

Synopsis: IN HER SIZZLING DEBUT, KARIN TABKE SETS THE SCENE WITH HARD-HITTING COPS, A SCANDALOUS CRIME, AND UNINHIBITED PASSION THAT CAN'T BE DENIED....

Straight-laced, by-the-book police officer Philamina Zorn has always lived by the letter of the law — that is, until she is assigned to work with Lieutenant Ty Jamerson, a tough-as-nails, arrogantly handsome cop who knows exactly how to press her buttons. Staking out Klub Kashmir, the Bay Area's hottest gentleman's club, Phil and Ty go undercover to bait the kidnapper of three young women — including two strippers from the club — while trying to keep their clashing personalities at bay. Baring more than just her inhibitions, Phil dons a barely there ensemble, straps on stilettos, and reveals her feisty side as Kat, a seductively sexy cocktail waitress who lets her luscious curves do the talking. Not only is she determined to expose a criminal but she has vowed to show her hot-headed lieutenant, a.k.a. floor manager of Klub Kashmir, that she's no shrinking violet.

As Phil and Ty become more deeply entrenched in the sordid underground world of exotic dancing, where money means everything and passions run wild, flaring tension becomes uncontrollable lust. It's all they can do not to surrender to desire — a hunger that intensifies with each playful encounter. Meanwhile, a cold-blooded criminal is hiding in the shadows — and a devastating secret that, if revealed, could shake Phil to her core.

Review: In Tabke's first novel length book we go undercover with police officers Ty Jamerson and Philamina Zorn. Someone is kidnapping dancers from the Bay area's ELITE gentleman's club....Now Ty and Phil must join forces to find the kidnapper, two strippers and an undercover cop. There is just one "small" problem....Ty and Phil don't get along. Ty doesn't trust anyone - especially women and Phil is determined "best" Ty by proving that her undercover character - Kat - is hardcore.

As things start to heat up in their case, tension turns into uncontrollable lust. It's not a matter of "if" Ty and Phil will give into that lust but "when." Meanwhile, there is still a criminal to catch and a painful secret that is being kept from Phil that if it were to be revealed it would shock her in a very big way.
